Job summary

US Foot and Ankle Specialists is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide essential clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced podiatry office. You will welcome patients, prepare exam rooms, take vitals, document in the EMR, and assist physicians with in-office procedures.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Travel between local office locations may be required; CMA/RMA certification is preferred, and proficiency with Microsoft 365

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant program or 1+ year clinical experience.
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred.
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes is preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to travel between local office locations as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures.
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, document in the EMR.
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services.
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education.
  • Manage lab specimens, insurance verifications, and pre-authorizations; process prescriptions.
  • Make post-operative calls and provide excellent customer service.
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation and support back-office operations.

Job description

The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast‑paced doctor’s office. This person will be involved in a wide spectrum of tasks focused around assisting the Physician in all minor in‑office procedures.

Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in‑office procedures
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post‑op care, digital X‑rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
  • Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre‑authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
  • Make post‑operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, support back‑office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance
Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
