Job summary

Summit Spine and Joint Centers in Columbia, SC is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical operations. Under supervision, you will chart in the EMR, assist providers, triage patients, and handle messages between patients and staff in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of clinical experience, familiarity with EMR systems such as EClinical Works, and a willingness to travel to other SSJC locations as needed.

Job Description Summary :

Under general supervision of a licensed provider, as a Medical Assistant, one must be able to effectively chart within the EMR system, provide referrals and perform clinical duties. We are seeking motivated individuals who show excellent communication skills. Must be able to problem-solve and multitask as we are a fast-paced practice. Gain skill and knowledge of organization policies and procedures in support of the department.

This job is a part-time , benefited position at Summit Spine & Joint Centers that reports to the Assistant Operations Manager . This position’s primary locations will be for region 102 clinic locations (see below) and is subject to change based on cove r age/business needs , and ASC ope r ating hou r s .

Region 102 Operating Schedule:

Columbia (ASC): Friday 8am- 5pm

Responsibilities:
  • Triage patients to be seen by providers which include, but are not limited to rooming patients, taking vitals, merging patient charts and communicating directly with patients
  • Assist providers in exam rooms
  • Effectively process messages between patients and administration or other medical offices
  • Report to office manager and/or practice administrator
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills And Abilities:
  • Must be willing to travel to other locations
  • Detail-oriented
  • Willingness to cross-train on all other clinical responsibilities including but not limited to MA/Fluoroscopy tasks.
Education And Experience:
  • Experience using EClinical Works or other EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems preferred
  • 1-year clinical experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

The employee must communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively with patients, visitors, clinicians, coworkers, and vendors, including in busy, demanding, or stressful circumstances. The employee must maintain professional composure and consistently perform assigned duties throughout the scheduled work period; manage routine workplace stressors and feedback without disrupting patient care, patient-facing operations, or coworkers’ work; and use established de-escalation and escalation procedures when appropriate. The employee must exercise sound judgment; maintain appropriate workplace boundaries; receive and respond to routine feedback and direction; protect confidential patient and business information; and address patient or workplace concerns through established supervisory and safety procedures. These functions are essential to the position.
