Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential.
  • Basic Life Saving certification is required.
  • One year or more experience in phlebotomy preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Exemplary customer service and ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including rooming patients, documenting vital signs, administering vaccinations, updating health maintenance, performing ECGs and other routine clinic functions.
  • Provide phlebotomy services as needed.
  • Process and document patient referrals to specialty care as needed.
  • Abstract outside laboratory results into the EMR as needed.
  • Document as required in the medical record.
  • Order routine medical supplies and monitor/distribute faxes.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms; ensure clinic equipment is in good working order.
  • Participate in ongoing Quality Improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

The Clinic Medical Assistant assists in providing health care to patients in the Vivent Health Medical Clinic. In addition, the Medical Assistant provides valuable input for day-to-day operations of the clinic.

The Medical Assistant is a key member of the medical staff and supports the delivery of the highest quality health care to Medical Clinic patients.

  • Provide direct patient care including rooming patients, documentation of vital signs, administering vaccinations, updating health maintenance, performing ECGs and other routine clinic functions.
  • Provide phlebotomy services as needed.
  • Process and documents patient specialty care referrals as needed.
  • Abstracts outside laboratory results into the electronic medical record as needed.
  • Document as required in the medical record.
  • Order routine medical supplies.
  • Monitor/distribute faxes.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms.
  • Ensure all clinic medical equipment is kept in good working order. Monitor expiration dates and routine control checks for all clinic equipment and tests.
  • Participate in continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Required and preferred knowledge and experiences to succeed.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Working knowledge of English/Spanish languages (bilingual) is preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Saving certification.
  • One year or greater experience in phlebotomy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Effective and practical organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to do detail-oriented work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment.

Pay Rate

$24.00/hourly - $24.25/hourly (Depending on Experience)

The final salary will be determined based on factors such as market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications. Please note that it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
