Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient intake, prepare exam rooms, and assist clinicians at CareNow urgent care clinics in Texas. You will take histories and vital signs, prepare rooms, and help with injections, labs, and phlebotomy as part of a busy clinical team.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year clinical experience and familiarity with EHR systems. Certification from AAMA is helpful; ability to obtain required screenings within 30 days is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a clinical patient setting preferred.
• Experience using an EHR system is helpful.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or Back Office Training Program (BOTP) required.
• AAMA certification is helpful.
• Ability to obtain Breath Alcohol and Drug Screening certificates within 30 days preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs.
• Set up exam/treatment rooms with instruments and maintain supplies/equipment.
• Administer injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
• Assist physicians with splints, dressings, and bandages.
• Assist with transfers and scheduling of follow-up care.
• Coordinate patient physicals and workplace injury reviews for partner accounts.
• Screen calls for referrals to physicians/practitioners.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Give injections, and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy needs
• Assist physicians in applying splints, dressings, and bandages
• Assist with transfers and scheduling of follow-up care
• Coordinate patient physicals and work place injuries for partner accounts
• Screen incoming calls for referral to physicians and practitioners

You Should Have:

• 1+ year of experience in a clinical patient setting is preferred
• Experience using an EHR system is very helpful
• Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting or completion of an approved program Back Office Training Program (BOTP) is required
• Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is helpful
• The ability to obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certificate and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 30 days of start preferred
