Job summary

Summit Spine & Joint Centers seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams at region 08 locations, including Carrollton and Villa Rica. Under supervision of a licensed provider, you will chart in the EMR, take vitals, and assist with referrals and patient education.

This full-time, benefited role requires strong communication, confidentiality, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced spine and joint care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience using EClinical Works or other EMR systems preferred.
• 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and measure vital signs.
• Record information in patient charts.
• Review medications and document allergies, medical and social history.
• Provide education and after-care instructions.
• Gather necessary documents and signatures for treatment decisions.
• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for visits.
• Relay orders to pharmacy via computer, phone or fax.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and clinic policies.
• Multitask and support providers as needed.

Job Description Summary

Under general supervision of a licensed provider, as a Medical Assistant, one must be able to effectively chart within the EMR system, provide referrals and perform clinical duties. We are seeking motivated individuals who show excellent communication skills. Must be able to problem-solve and multitask as we are a fast-paced practice. Gain skill and knowledge of organization policies and procedures in support of the department.

This job is a full-time, benefited position at Summit Spine & Joint Centers that reports to the Assistant Operations Manager. This position’s primary locations will be for region 08 clinic locations (see below) and subject to change based on coverage/business needs.

Region 16 Operating Schedule

• Carrollton (ASC): Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm
• Villa Rica: Wednesday 8am- 5pm

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and other pertinent information as required by the department.
• Record information is a patient's chart.
• Reviews medication with patients and charts all allergies, surgeries, family history, past medical history and social history of the patient.
• Assist with providing educational information and after care instructions during or after visit.
• Gather appropriate documents or signatures necessary to assist the provider in treatment decisions.
• Gather incoming records and make sure that it is recorded in the patient chart at time of the visit.
• Knowledge of basic office equipment (phone, fax, scanner copy machine)
• Relays clinical instructions /orders to the pharmacy via computer, phone or fax.
• Ensures the exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up each day prior to patient visits.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Must be able to exercise diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients. Practice confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.
• Able to use customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly.
• Must be able to multitask and handle other duties that may be assigned.
• Relay messages to physicians and return phone calls to patients.
