Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Medical Office Specialist I to join our team. The role covers front desk and back office duties, including patient check-in, insurance verification, referrals and authorizations, co-pay collection, and scheduling of visits, testing, and procedures.

The position will include EKGs, vitals (manual BP), and general Medical Assistant tasks in an outpatient setting, with a focus on empathetic, patient-centered care and alignment with Mercy’s mission.

Qualifications

• Education and Work Experience: High School Diploma or GED.
• A minimum of one year experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide front desk and back office support for providers, including patient check-in, insurance verification (referrals/authorizations), co-pay collections, and scheduling of visits, testing and procedures as needed.
• Perform EKGs and vitals, including manual blood pressures, in outpatient settings; provide Medical Assistant support as needed.

Responsibilities

The Medical Office Specialist will provide front desk and back office support for providers. Front office consists of patient check in, verifying insurance and requirements of that insurance i.e. referrals / authorizations, co-pay collections and scheduling of visits, testing and procedures as needed. The staff member demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served. In addition, the staff member demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Provides general Medical Assistant assistance to the Provider in an outpatient setting consisting of EKG, vitals including manual blood pressures.
