Job summary

CareNow urgent care within HCA Healthcare seeks a Clinical Medical Assistant to support patient care team. You will prepare patients, take histories and vital signs, assist with exams, and maintain treatment rooms with supplies and sterilization.

The role requires 1+ year in a clinical setting, EHR experience is helpful, and completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program. Certifications like AAMA are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Certificate, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree, or Vocational School Graduate.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program; BOTP preferred.
• AAMA certification is helpful.
• Able to obtain Federal Breath Alcohol Screening and Federal Drug Screening within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs.
• Prepare exam rooms with instruments and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy needs.
• Assist physicians with splints, dressings, and bandages.
• Coordinate patient physicals and workplace injuries.
• Screen calls for referral to physicians and practitioners.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Medical Assistant, you will:

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
• Give injections, and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy needs
• Assist physicians in applying splints, dressings, and bandages
• Assist with transfers and scheduling of follow‑up care
• Coordinate patient physicals and workplace injuries for partner accounts
• Screen incoming calls for referral to physicians and practitioners

You Should Have:

• 1+ year of experience in a clinical patient setting is preferred
• Experience using an EHR system is very helpful
• Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting or completion of an approved program Back Office Training Program (BOTP) is required
• Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is helpful
• The ability to obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certificate and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 30 days of start preferred
