Job summary

US Foot and Ankle Specialists in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support exams and in-office procedures. You will room patients, take vitals, update histories, and document in the EMR.

This role also involves assisting physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, X-rays, and podiatric services. The ideal candidate has a MA program or 1+ year clinical experience; CMA/RMA certification is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork skills for a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience.
• CMA or RMA certification preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred).
• Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills.

• Ability to travel between local office locations, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures.
• Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR.
• Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services.
• Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education.
• Manage lab specimens, verify insurance and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed.
• Make post-operative calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service.
• Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

• Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
• Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
• Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
• Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
• Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
• Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
• Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
• Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance

Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience:
