Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers is hiring a Medical Assistant in Alabama. The role focuses on delivering quality clinical and administrative support, ensuring a positive patient experience and accurate recordkeeping within the facility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold a medical assistant or EMT certificate from an accredited school and provide transcripts.
  • Experience as a medical assistant is required.
  • Continuing education credits must be maintained as required by the state.
  • Ability to administer medications as part of job duties.
  • Preferred certifications from CMA/AMT/NCCT or recognized bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of intake team to ensure prompt patient assessment.
  • Test and observe urine samples and package for lab confirmation.
  • Record vital signs and report findings to the nurse as needed.
  • Collect blood samples and prepare for laboratory testing.
  • Communicate patient information to leadership and team.
  • Schedule physician/counselor visits and coordinate referrals.
  • Handle cash collection and daily balancing when required.
  • Assist accounts receivable/payable and deposits as needed.
  • Maintain security and monitor access and visitor logs.
  • Coordinate patient appointments and PDMP processes where applicable.
  • Maintain and update all medical records in the EHR and related systems.
  • Drop off lab work at designated locations when required.

As a Medical Assistant, you will administer and coordinate medical services necessary while creating a positive patient experience within the facility. You will be responsible for performing routine administrative and clinical responsibilities.

Pay Range:

$17.50/per hour to $19.50/per hour

Requirements
  • CA (California) Specific Requirements:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a current medical assistant certificate or emergency medical technician certificate from an accredited teaching school and/or provide transcripts
  • Experience as a medical assistant.
  • Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the state employed
  • Ability to administer medications.
Preferred
  • Graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT), or any recognized certifying body approved by the Board.
  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant).
  • Two (2) years’ experience or knowledge in the field of behavioral health recommended.
  • Experience performing blood draws
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Certification
Responsibilities:
  • Works as part of the intake team to ensure patients are seen promptly.
  • Observe urine samples for urine drug screens, test onsite and package for laboratory for confirmation testing.
  • Obtain vital signs and report findings to nurse when needed.
  • Obtain blood samples for standard blood testing onsite and package for the laboratory
  • Communicate all relevant information to the leadership team regarding patients and the facility.
  • Make appointments for patients to see physicians, counselors, and case managers, and provide lab work and referrals for additional follow-up care.
  • May be responsible for cash collection and daily balancing.
  • May be responsible for managing accounts receivable/accounts payable/ deposits.
  • Maintain security by following procedures, monitoring logbook, checking in visitors, etc.
  • May be responsible for coordinating appointments for patients. May be responsible for running the PDMP for all patients as well as recording patient information at intake in the Central Registry for that State
  • Maintain and keep updated all medical records and documentation pertaining to the patients in the EHR as well as in any lab required software programs
  • May be responsible for dropping off lab work at a UPS drop off location if the driver does not come in to pick up that day
