Job summary

ENT and Allergy Associates of Florida is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant or Nurse for a part-time role in our Allergy Clinical Department, with potential move to full-time as opportunities arise. The position requires multitasking, high-volume patient flow, and a readiness to learn all aspects of allergy and ENT care.

Expected duties include patient interactions of 30–80 minutes, taking histories, injections, skin tests, and coordinating with physicians.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years hands-on clinical experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or license.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume clinic.
  • Allergy experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with patients for 30–80 minutes following allergy protocols.
  • Take patient histories and administer injections.
  • Perform allergy skin tests and obtain authorizations.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain sterile technique.
  • Handle inventory and sterilization per CDC/office protocols.
  • Reconcile information in EMR and verify chart notes for physician sign-off.
  • Obtain proper consent forms and ensure scope of practice is followed.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, strong clinical skilled compassionate Medical Assistant or Nurse looking for a part time position and gradually move to full time when the opportunity becomes available in our Allergy Clinical Department to help grow department's longevity. We are open Monday - Thursday, 8:00-5:00, Friday, 8:00-2:00, while this position is for Fridays only, there must be flexibility to work additional days if needed. You must be multitask oriented, motivated, able to handle a high volume of patients, be a self-starter and willing to learn all aspects of Allergy and ENT.

Functions include: the ability to interact with patients for 30-80 minutes, following allergy protocols, answering patient calls, taking patient histories, giving injections, performing allergy skin tests, obtaining authorizations, preparing exam rooms, sterilization techniques, handling of inventory, etc.

Reconcile existing information for established patients manually or via patient portal. i.e. past medical history, current medications, surgeries and family history. Ensure appropriate boxes are indicated in EMR to document the scribe acknowledgement.

Reviews charts at the end of patient encounters, verifying accuracy before physician signs off on chart note. Identify any discrepancies and/or missing information.

Obtaining proper consent forms and ensuring proper scope of practice is followed.

Sterilize instruments in accordance with CDC, ENTAAF and if applicable with Autoclave manufacturer requirements i.e. cold sterilization autoclave.

Requirements

Minimum TWO years' HANDS ON Clinical experience, working knowledge of medical terminology, strong written and verbal communication skills with a clear speaking voice, strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to interact professionally at all times with patients, physicians and team members. Must be current with your License or Medical Assistant certification or willing to participate and pass our in house 1 year employee commitment training course and National test. Allergy experience is a plus.

Physical Demands

Coordination, manual, and physical dexterity sufficient to properly and adequately use various items of medical equipment and office equipment as required of the position or directed by the Clinical Manager. The position may involve sitting, standing, bending, and stooping. Incumbent must also be able to assist patients in transferring from wheelchair to an Allergy Testing chair, when necessary. Responsibilities may also require the incumbent to travel between ENTAAF offices for support purposes. The incumbent must also be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions

Normal medical office environment; this environment may involve dealing with a high traffic volume of people and stressful situations requiring the ability to think clearing; respond quickly; and to be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Periodic training and administration workshops and meetings specific to Allergy may be scheduled. When scheduled, incumbent is expected to attend and participate.
