Job summary

The Office of the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) seeks Special Assistant Attorneys General in its Hauppauge office to prosecute financial fraud in healthcare and abuse and neglect cases. As part of a team with forensic accountants, detectives, and analysts, you will present evidence to grand juries and conduct evidentiary hearings and trials in New York state courts.

Applicants must reside in New York and be admitted to practice in NY.

Qualifications

• The candidate has at least four years of practice experience including criminal practice and complex litigation.
• Experience drafting and overseeing search and eavesdropping warrants is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, legal research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Strong judgment and ability to articulate issues clearly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently and with staff at all levels.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with case management and eDiscovery is a plus.

• Lead investigations in collaboration with forensic accountants and other staff to identify financial crimes in healthcare and elder care.
