Job summary

Osceola Medical Center seeks a dedicated Medicaid Eligibility Advocate to conduct eligibility screenings, assess patient financial needs, and counsel on insurance benefits and co-payments. The role acts as a liaison among patients, the hospital, and government agencies, supporting all case management areas.

You will screen for insurance coverage and assist with federal/state programs, re-verify benefits, and ensure timely processing of applications while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of one-year related experience preferred, preferably in healthcare.
• Relevant education may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage and assistance programs.
• Re-verifies benefits and obtains authorization after treatment plan discussed.
• Obtain medical evidence and documentation for eligibility determination.
• Complete and file applications and follow up with agencies.
• Enter information accurately in the system and document progress notes.
• Participate in ongoing training programs and support office functions.
• Must be able to make field visits with reliable transportation.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medicaid Eligibility Advocateis responsible forconductingeligibility screenings, assessment of patient financial requirements, and counseling patients on insurance benefits and co-payments.The Medicaid Eligibility Advocate is a liaison between the patient, hospital, and governmental agencies and is actively involved in all case management areas.

In this role you will:

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage, federal and stateassistanceprograms, or hospital charity applications.
• Re-verifies benefits and obtains authorization and/or referral after treatment plan has been discussed, prior to initiation of treatment.Ensuresappropriate signaturesare obtained on all necessary forms.
• Obtain legally relevant medical evidence, physician statements and all other documentationrequiredfor eligibility determination.
• Complete andfile applications.Initiate andmaintainproper follow-up with the patient and government agency caseworkers to ensuretimelyprocessing and completion of all mandated applications andaccompanyingdocumentation.
• Ensure all insurance, demographic and eligibility information is obtained andentered intothe system accurately.Document progress notes to the patient’s file and the hospital computer system.
• Participates in ongoing, comprehensive training programs asrequired.
• Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the office.Covers andassistswith other office functions asrequested.
• Will berequiredto make field visits as necessary and will need reliable personal transportation readily available.
