Job summary

The U.S. Army is seeking a Medic (Combat Medical Specialist) to provide emergency medical care in field and non-field environments. You will serve as a first responder, triage injuries, and train fellow Soldiers in lifesaver skills while on base when not deployed.

You will participate in demanding training, including Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, to become a qualified medic and contribute to humanitarian and combat missions across diverse settings.

MEDIC
Overview:

As a Combat Medic Specialist, you'll administer emergency medical care in the field in both combat and humanitarian situations. Your training will allow you to serve as a first responder and triage illnesses and injuries to save lives, much like a paramedic in the civilian world. You'll also train other Soldiers in lifesaver/first responder courses and provide care on base while not deployed.

Job Duties:
  • Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties.
  • Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment.
  • Prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare patients, operating rooms, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
Requirements:
  • Be between the ages of 17- 40.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Submit to background and medical screening
  • Receive a passing score on the ASVAB
Training:

Job training for a Combat Medic Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX, including the practice of inpatient care.
