Job summary

The City of New York's Commission on Human Rights seeks an experienced Mediation Program Attorney to help ensure access to high-quality mediation services for New Yorkers. You will report to the Commission’s Director of Mediation and support mediation efforts across complaints arising under the NYCHRL.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar; four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant legal experience after admission to any bar.
• Eighteen months of supervisory, managerial, or highly complex and significant legal work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mediations of NYCHRL complaints, including pre-mediation factual and legal analysis, negotiations, and drafting settlement agreements.
• Careful, timely, and accurate mediation case management in a high-volume docket across all case stages.
• Scheduling and logistics management of video, telephone, and in-person meetings.
• Reporting mediation data as requested by the Director and/or the Commissioner.
• Assist with other duties to advance the mediation program, operations, and mission.
