Job summary

Sōvyn, an award-winning PR and marketing agency focused on biotech and life sciences, seeks a Media Relations Manager to lead strategic campaigns from Stamford, CT. You will own media relations programs, craft pitches, and develop high-impact materials for global health tech clients.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of PR experience in pharma/biotech, a strong media network, and a proven track record of securing earned placements across online, broadcast, and print outlets.

You are an expert in media relations who excels at overseeing public and media relations activities in-house or agency clients in the biotech or life science sectors. You have a deep media network, are a captivating storyteller, and dynamic pitch writer, and maybe even consider yourself a bit scrappy. Sound familiar? As the media relations manager, you will:

• Own the success of media relations programs for our clients
• Craft unique and creative pitches and secure media coverage
• Author high-quality content, including press releases, speaking and award submissions, pitches, byline articles, case studies, and other collateral
• Cultivate strong relationships with media, industry leaders, clients, freelancers, vendors, and other stakeholders
• Set media relations strategy, creatively link complex issues with newsworthy coverage potential
• Manage the delivery of PR campaigns across all media platforms
• Lead proactive and reactive media relations efforts to achieve quality, high-impact placements on a consistent basis
• Develop and implement evolving quarterly media strategies
• Coordinate the interview process and develop key messages and briefing sheets to prepare clients for media interviews
• Monitor media trends, present and share media reports and deliverables with clients
• Organize communication, project status, and reporting for up-to-date information and communication between the team and client
• Create and update target media lists, messaging matrices, and communications strategy
• Offer new ideas and initiatives to the team
• Assist with new business research, proposal writing, and presentations as needed
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in client communications
• Celebrate successes with clients and the Sōvyn team

• Past work in pharma, biotech, or life sciences
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 7+ years of PR/communications experience (recovering journalists welcome)
• Proven proficiency managing media relations and securing earned placements (online, broadcast, and print)
• Robust network of traditional and online media contacts
• Ability to maintain and foster relationships with clients and media
• Strategic planner and effective implementer
