Job summary

Eurofins USA Food Testing is seeking a Media Prep Technician to support onsite laboratories in Lancaster. You will prepare and sterilize media, wash glassware, and manage waste following GxP and SOPs.

The role includes documenting procedures and maintaining equipment, with a Monday–Friday 2:00pm–10:30pm schedule and overtime as needed. Candidates should have a high school diploma with chemistry/biology coursework, strong organization, and the ability to work independently and in a team,

Job Description

To perform all daily assignments to support the media needs of our onsite laboratories and the EML lab in Lancaster. The primary responsibilities will be to prepare and sterilize media for microbiological testing. The position will also include washing laboratory glassware, sterilizing microbiological waste, and disposing of waste post sterilization.

Media Prep Technician Duties Include but are not Limited to the Following:

The Media Prep Technician receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the laboratory supervisor for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. The Media Prep Technician has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position, so long as such action, does not deviate from established company guidelines, and is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.

• Prepare liquid media and agar for use in Microbiological testing.
• Operate autoclaves for sterilization of media and waste.
• Perform routine autoclave maintenance.
• Operate pH meter and lab balance.
• Use automatic washers and perform manual washing to clean glassware.
• Document media preparation, autoclave usage, equipment usage and calibration clearly and accurately in laboratory logbooks.
• Report all equipment, technical, or workload problems immediately to management.
• Work during assigned hours and overtime or weekends when requested.
• Monitor and maintain proper housekeeping in applicable work areas.
• Adhere to company health and safety policies; including eye protection, lab coats, and hand protection.
• Demonstrate good laboratory practices (GxP).
• Follow all company analytical and administrative Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of a high school diploma with courses in Chemistry, Biology and Algebra.
• Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess the ability to reason and adapt to changing media needs of the Microbiology laboratory.
• Must be able to listen and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Must possess exemplary organizational skills.A
