Job summary

UNOPS is seeking a Capacity Building Specialist to design and deliver training, mentoring, and strategic communication support for journalism and media development related to North Macedonia’s EU integration process. The role emphasizes editorial independence and high-quality public reporting.

You will work under the Project Manager to strengthen media capacities, provide practical learning resources, and guide journalists through editorial planning, fact-checking and proactive public engagement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferably in journalism, communications, media or related fields with 7 years of relevant experience OR
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) preferably in any of the above or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience is required
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in journalism, media development, editorial management, strategic communication or related areas.
• Desired experience in capacity building through training, mentoring and the development of practical learning resources.
• Experience working across countries with journalists, media organisations or public institutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice, training and mentoring to strengthen media development and strategic communication related to EU integration.
• Design and deliver capacity-building activities and learning resources.
• Coordinate regional exchanges and peer learning opportunities.
• Help journalists with editorial planning, reporting and fact-checking; respond to misinformation.
• Prepare inception reports and work plans aligned with project needs.
