Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Media-IP SoC Performance Engineer to join its Platform Architecture team in Cupertino, CA.

You will own performance models for multiple media IPs powering Apple’s SoCs, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to optimize trade‑offs between performance, power and area across devices from Apple Watch to Vision Pro. The role emphasizes data‑driven architectural insights, with opportunities to develop performance tools, analyze traces, and present findings to influence

Qualifications

• Experience in computer architecture and software engineering.
• Experience in C++ object‑oriented software development.
• Strong understanding of SoC architectures including fabrics, memory systems, QoS, arbitration, and queuing theory.
• Experience with performance model development and analysis, including data analytics and applied machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python, Lua, and shell scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, design, and software teams to plan, implement, validate, and correlate high‑level C++ performance models.
• Develop tools for analyzing and visualizing performance data and provide architectural insights.
• Present performance study results to cross‑functional teams to inform architectural decisions.
• Validate performance models against specifications and correlate with RTL.
• Use and develop tools for analyzing traces and simulating data flow to provide performance and power feedback.
