Job summary

The Shipyard, a leading marketing and communications agency in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Media Intern for a part-time, hybrid role (20-24 hours/week). You will gain hands-on exposure to media planning and buying across traditional and digital channels, with a paid internship at $18/hour.

You’ll support the Media Planning team, develop proficiency with planning tools, and contribute to campaigns while living near Columbus, OH. This is a fantastic entry point into the advertising industry.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • Interest in media planning, buying, and the advertising landscape.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions.
  • Comfort with numbers and budgets.
  • Proficiency or eagerness to learn Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Support Media Planning team in day-to-day campaign management across key accounts.
  • Build proficiency with planning tools like eMarketer, MRI‑Simmons, Global Web Index and Media Radar.
  • Assist in development and execution of media plans across traditional and digital channels.
  • Maintain accuracy in media plans, budgets, flowcharts, and tracking documents.
  • Support digital campaign pacing, trafficking, and reporting with data and ad ops teams.
  • Assist with vendor communications and action items from meetings.
  • Stay curious about media landscape and industry shifts.

Summary

We are looking for a curious, motivated Media Intern to join our Columbus, OH team part-time, working 20-24 hours per week. This paid internship ($18/hour) offers hands‑on exposure to the full media planning and buying process across both traditional and digital channels.

This is a hybrid work from home/office position (in‑office attendance is required on Tuesdays & Thursdays) and the candidate must live near Columbus, OH.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the Media Planning team in day‑to‑day campaign management across key accounts
  • Begin building proficiency with the planning tools our team relies on every day, including eMarketer, MRI‑Simmons, Global Web Index and Media Radar
  • Assist in the development and execution of media plans across traditional and digital channels, and start to understand how each channel plays a role in reaching an audience
  • Help maintain accuracy in media plans, budgets, flowcharts, and tracking documents
  • Support digital campaign pacing, trafficking, and reporting in partnership with data and ad ops teams
  • Assist with day‑to‑day vendor communications and document meeting action items
  • Stay curious about the media landscape, emerging platforms, industry news ad shifts in consumer behavior
What You’ll Bring
