Job summary

Upchurch Company is seeking an experienced Journeyman Medical Gas Plumber to join our team. In this role, you will install, modify, test, and repair commercial plumbing and medical gas systems for healthcare, institutional, and commercial construction projects.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Medical Gas License.
• Current Texas Journeyman Plumbing License.
• Minimum 3+ years of commercial plumbing experience.
• Experience installing medical gas systems in healthcare or commercial construction environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Strong understanding of plumbing codes and industry standards.
• Experience soldering and brazing copper tubing.
• OSHA-10 Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, test, and repair commercial plumbing and medical gas systems.
• Read blueprints and specs to layout plumbing and medical gas installations.
• Perform underground rough-in, top-out, and final trim installations.
• Install DWV, domestic water, and acid waste piping systems.
• Install and test medical gas systems: Oxygen, Medical Air, Vacuum, Nitrogen.
• Install natural gas piping per codes and project requirements.
• Set fixtures in hospitals and commercial buildings; solder/braze as needed.
• Conduct pressure tests, leak detection, and system verification for code compliance.
• Maintain safe work environment and adhere to OSHA safety standards.

Position Summary

Upchurch Company is seeking an experienced Journeyman Medical Gas Plumber to join our team. In this role, you will install, modify, test, and repair commercial plumbing and medical gas systems for healthcare, institutional, and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working in hospital and healthcare environments, a strong understanding of plumbing codes, and the ability to safely install critical medical gas systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, modify, and repair commercial plumbing systems, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
• Install and service sewage, water, gas, oil, compressed air, vacuum, acid waste, and related piping systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to accurately layout plumbing and medical gas systems.
• Perform underground rough-in, above-ground top-out, and final trim installations.
• Install DWV (Drain, Waste & Vent), domestic hot and cold water systems, and acid waste piping.
• Install and test medical gas systems, including:
  • Oxygen (O₂)
  • Medical Air
  • Vacuum Systems
  • Nitrogen
• Install natural gas piping systems in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
• Set and install commercial plumbing fixtures in hospitals, medical facilities, and commercial buildings.
• Solder and braze copper tubing, thread steel pipe, and utilize ProPress systems when applicable.
• Conduct pressure testing, leak detection, and system verification to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
• Cut, drill, and modify structural openings to accommodate plumbing installations.
• Install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company and OSHA safety standards.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
