Baptist Health is seeking a Med/URO Patient Care Technician to join the Baptist Medical Center South team in Montgomery. The role supports RNs, LPNs and physicians in routine patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a CNA program or health occupations program, and strong communication skills. BLS may be required; first shift with regular full-time hours offered.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • CNA program or health occupations program preferred.
  • Nursing Fundamentals course completion or 1 year patient care experience preferred.
  • BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist RNs, LPNs and Physicians in routine patient care tasks.

  • Follow safety and body mechanics guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.

Here, you’ll find a cohesive team and a workplace where your contributions truly matter."**Summary**: The Patient Care Technician shall serve as a supportive member of the patient care team who will assist in routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. The PCT shall assist RNs, LPN's, and Physicians in the patient care process. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.**Education/Experience**: High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals' course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vitals signs etc) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred.**License/Certification**: BLS required**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort. • Medical terminology training preferred. • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.**Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:**Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
