Job summary

Avamere Communities at Newberg in Newberg, OR seeks a part-time Med Tech for the Memory Care unit on the overnight NOC shift (10pm-6am) with weekend availability. The Medication Tech administers medications and provides direct care under RN supervision to residents, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to care plans.

The role emphasizes professionalism, compassion, and teamwork with nursing staff, residents, and families, while supporting safety and quality of life for seniors.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and/or Assisted Living Facility.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
  • A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.
  • Administer accurately and timely.
  • Record medications administered in the resident’s record.
  • Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.
  • Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
  • Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.
  • Obtain/provide shift report and record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to orders.
  • Follow care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and assessments.
  • Assist with medical appointments, communicate with healthcare providers, and advocate for residents’ needs.
  • Observe residents for health changes and report concerns to medical professionals.
  • Document changes in residents’ status in the EMR.
  • Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
  • Participate in in-service education programs.
  • Report changes in resident conditions promptly.
  • Follow written and oral directions.
  • Perform duties in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
  • Be responsible for resident safety under supervision.
  • Work with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, and others.
  • Assist new employees in following facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Wage: $19.70-$25.70/hr DOE
Attendance bonus: The perfect attendance bonus in a pay period will be $100.00 for a full-time employee and $75.00 for a part-time employee.

Job Summary

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

Responsibilities
  • Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.
  • Administer accurately and timely.
  • Record medications administered in the resident’s record.

  • Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
  • Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
  • Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.
  • Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.
  • Follow written and oral directions.
  • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.
  • Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.
  • Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
