Job summary

Laurelwood-Assisted-Living- in Dayton, OH is seeking a Medication Technician / CMA to administer medications to residents in accordance with Ohio state regulations and physician orders, under licensed nursing staff.

The role supports resident health, safety and quality of life, and requires documentation accuracy, infection control, and strong communication with residents, families and the care team. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is required.

Qualifications

• Current Ohio CMA certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to read, write, and follow medication orders accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oral medication including Schedule 3, 4, 5 narcotics.
• Accurately document medication administration in MARs or electronic systems
• Observe residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns promptly to licensed nursing staff
• Maintain proper storage, labeling, and security of medications
• Assist with medication inventory, refills, and audits as assigned
• Provide respectful, compassionate care while promoting resident dignity and independence
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
• Communicate with resident’s Area Agency on Aging case managers and Waiver Service Coordinators.
• Correspond with Pharmacy and Providers on resident matters.
• Communicates concerns with Director of Nursing/Acting Director of Nursing in a timely manner. Attending all nursing mandatory monthly meetings.
• Follow infection control, safety, HIPAA, and facility policies
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, consistent with training and facility guidelines
• Monitor and chart Glucose levels (Ground, 1st and 2nd floor residents) subjective to change.
