Care/Medication Technician
We are looking for both part‑time and PRN medication technicians for all shifts: 7a‑3p, 3p‑11p, and 11p‑7a.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; know where they are and physically check on them throughout the shift.
- Observe, report, and document symptoms and conditions of residents. Monitor changes in condition such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary intake, and participation in activities.
- Respond to security system and resident call bells promptly.
- Notify supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
- Assist with continence management and properly dispose of all continence products to ensure sanitation of resident suites and community restrooms.
- Serve and collect food trays, report refusals or loss of appetite.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
- Practice good standard care precautions, including cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
- Help residents maintain independence, promoting dignity and physical safety.
- Actively participate, lead, and assist residents with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed.
- Engage residents in life‑skills and enrichment activities.
- Greet and assist all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
- Perform resident laundry as assigned and needed.
Medication Tech Duties
- Review the service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
- Assist/observe medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Document and initial forms as medications are given, including appropriate documentation for refusals or missed doses.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including medications.
- Report resident concerns during medication assistance to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
- Restock medication cart after all medication passes.
- Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
- Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
- Maintain and clean the Medication Room, medication charts, and treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, and availability of medications, and remove expired medications.
- Follow the refill process for medications.
- Participate in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
- Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- CPR certification preferred.
- First Aid certification preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
