  • Performs timely and accurate patient assessments as outlined in Nursing Standards of Care.
  • Plans, implements and documents focused care plans with goals for each patient.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward goals and communicates with the care team.
  • Delivers safe medication administration per nursing standards and OMC policy.

Job Summary:

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing along with Wisconsin State Statutes: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN must possess excellent communication skills; be enthusiastic about mentoring and teaching; and participate on committees or projects.

    • Implements and completes clinician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrates quality by administering medications based on nursing standards and OMC policy.
  • Continually strives to exceed patient experience standards in all interactions with customers, which includes patients, visitors, organization team members, and medical staff
    • Demonstrates a team/collaborative approach with colleagues.
    • Helps and supports co-workers and clinicians.
    • Helps and supports patients and their families.

    • Prioritizes patient care based on individual, departmental, and overall hospital patient needs.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail in performing all job duties
  • Assess multiple systems, develop plans of care, provide intervention and education, and assess outcomes of patient care
