Job description

The registered nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients, using the nursing process and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in accordance with BORN regulations and professional standards.

Specialty Area Requirements

• Adult GI – 2 years critical care/GI experience; ACLS required first year; CCGRN preferred.
• ARTC – BSN required; ASRM RN certificate within 1st year; 1 year reproductive endocrinology practice.
• Cancer Center – 1 year chemotherapy administration; thorough assessment skills; Oncology Nursing Certification required within 1st year; Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Administration Certification; ONS preferred.
• Cardiovascular Center – 2 years critical care; Cardiac ICU/CCU/Cath Lab experience preferred; BLS/ACLS required.
• Device Clinic – 2 years device clinic experience; BCLS and ACLS required; HRS/NASP preferred.
• ED – 2 years ED experience; ACLS, PALS, CPI required first year; CEN or CCRN preferred.
• ICU – 2 years critical care; ACLS required first year.
• Labor & Delivery/AETU – 2 years L&D experience; NRP required first year.
• Maternal Fetal Medicine – 2 years perinatal services; BSN; BLS; ACLS preferred.
• Med/Surg – 1 year Med/Surg; telemetry training within first year.
• Mother/Baby – 2 years mother/baby experience; NRP required first year.
• OR – 2 years OR; Peri‑operative Nursing Program completion preferred; AORN preferred.
• PACU/Henderson – 2 years PACU; ACLS and PALS required first year; CPAN/CAPA preferred.
• Pediatrics – 2 years pediatrics; NRP required first year.
• Pedi GI – 2 years pediatric GI; PALS required first year.
• Psychiatry – 2 years psychiatry; CPI required first month.
• SCN – 2 years SCN; NRP required first year.
• STAT RN – 2 years critical care/emergency; ACLS, PALS, CPI required first year.
• Primary Care Triage RN – 2 years triage/urgent care; ANCC RN‑BC preferred.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to hospital standards, promotes teamwork, and follows policies.
• Uses the nursing process and evidence‑based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Provides competent and compassionate care, respecting patient cultural and personal needs.
• Implements clinical and technical aspects of care per physician orders.
• Responds to emergencies, implements fall precautions, and uses proper restraints.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation and medication administration, following the "5 rights."
• Engages patients and families in education and discharge planning.
• Participates in performance‑improvement activities and cost‑containment initiatives.
• Communicates effectively within the team and to the family.

Device Clinic RN Responsibilities

• Enroll, interrogate, and program outpatient pacemaker patients.
• Detect abnormalities and coordinate follow‑up with cardiologist.
• Educate patients and families about device function and clinic routine.
• Ensure documentation and billing, lead device recall team, and handle administrative duties.
• Collaborate with other team members and provide input on budgetary goals.

STAT RN Responsibilities

• Assist with rapid responses, Code Blue, and admissions/ transfers of critically ill patients.
• Support ICU-level care in ED, PACU, and medical‑surgical units when needed.
• Assist with IV access, phlebotomy, transport, and diagnostic testing.
• Work under direct supervision of the Nursing Administrator and ICU nurse manager.
• Perform additional clinical duties as assigned when no critical‑care support is available.

Education & Credentials

• Registered Nurse (RN) state license; BSN preferred, other nursing diploma acceptable.
• Clinical competence required for specialty area; specific certifications as listed above (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CPI, etc.).
• Continuing education and performance‑improvement participation expected.
