Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse for Med Surg to provide direct patient care, perform assessments, and coordinate with the care team.

You will plan and implement nursing care, document assessments, educate patients, and support discharge planning while upholding quality standards. This role requires RN licensure in Florida or a compact state and relevant certifications; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Qualifications

• Unit specific certifications may be required.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required.
• NIHSS or STROKE certification could be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in the unit.
• Performs ongoing assessments and documents findings.
• Initiates discharge planning with initial admission assessment.
• Plans patient care with patient and family in collaboration with the health care team.
• Formulates and updates an individualized plan of care.
• Directs and coordinates patient care activities on the unit.
• Communicates the plan of care to the health care team.
• Educates patients based on assessed needs and evaluates understanding.
• Directs care team members within their scope of practice.
