Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Generalist (Hematology experience preferred) for the 2nd shift (Tue-Friday, 4-10s, 1400-2430). The Med Lab Scientist 2 performs a full range of laboratory testing and analysis with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include ensuring quality control, instrument maintenance, and accurate reporting of results, while maintaining inventory and collaborating with laboratory staff and external customers.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience.
• Experience: Less than 1 year.
• Certification: One of ASCP/AMT/AAB/ABHI options.

• Performs laboratory tests per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains quality control, safety and infection control procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and communicates with staff.
• Participates in laboratory projects and education activities.
• Demonstrates and teaches laboratory principles and skills.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements.
• Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Demonstrates and educates laboratory principles and technical skills to others.
