Job summary

Pacific-Living-Centers seeks a Universal Caregiver / Medication Aide in Grants Pass, Oregon. You will assist residents with daily living activities, support medication routines after training, and maintain accurate records while ensuring a clean, safe environment.

On-the-job training is provided; flexibility and compassion are essential as you adapt to residents’ changing needs and participate in ongoing trainings with the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with seniors is helpful but not required.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and records.
• Pre-Service Universal Caregiver training is provided during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living per the service plan in a compassionate manner.
• Medication setup and administration after training.
• Update resident records in accordance with policy and procedures.
• Report changes in resident health or behavior to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment; assist with housekeeping and laundry.
• Assist with meals: prep, serving, and assisting residents as needed.
• Assist with daily activities and document resident participation.
• Attend staff trainings and contribute to team objectives.

The Universal Caregiver / Medication Aide is a pivotal member of our Assisted Living and Residential Care Communities. This role involves more direct interaction with residents than any other position. Universal Caregivers / Med Aides are responsible for consistently providing detailed information about resident status, needs, and issues to ensure appropriate actions are taken. They must be vigilant in observing changes in residents’ health, attitudes, and needs, and effectively communicate these observations. Adaptability is crucial, as Universal Caregivers / Med Aides must respond to the evolving needs of both the facility and its residents. Promptly report all changes to supervisor.Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents by:Performing general housekeeping and deep cleaning as requiredFollowing cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas.Cleaning up following all meals, including cleaning dishes, wiping down tables, chairs and sweeping/vacuuming floors to clear any food.Reporting and documenting any safety issues or concerns and addressing if/when appropriate.Collecting garbage from resident rooms each shift. Immediately removing incontinent supplies that are wet or soiled. Removing garbage from the kitchen & laundry room one time per shift. Taking garbage to the dumpster as needed and at least one time per shift.Prepare and cook food as required by following posted menus. Assist with serving all meals by bringing residents into the dining room and giving them any assistance, as needed, with their meals. Serve drinks and food to the residents.Assist with daily scheduled activities by setting up per the administrator’s direction, engaging with the residents, and documenting resident participation.Attend all staff trainings and in-service meetings as required.Additional duties as assigned by Executive Director or team lead.Professional ExpectationsPresent oneself in an orderly manner.
