Job summary

Magnolia Manor in Groves, TX is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to administer prescribed oral and topical medications under nurse supervision, in compliance with state and federal regulations. This role supports patient comfort and wellbeing and requires strong English communication and nursing assistant certification.

You will document medication administration accurately, observe for adverse reactions, and participate in in-services while ensuring medication areas are secure and organized.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• May take and record vital signs of patients/residents as assigned or as required by certain medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions/side effects of medications to a licensed nurse or the appropriate shift.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Documents reason for and response to PRN medications in a timely manner.
• May dispense narcotics and must account for them under supervision of the licensed (or charge) nurse per facility policy.
• Keeps medication carts/medication rooms secure per policy.
• Attends facility education in-services and QA meetings as requested.
• Function as a Team Leader/Role Model and enforce abuse prevention policies.

Job Summary:The overall purpose of the Certified Medication Aide position is to administer oral and topical medications to patients/residents. This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations.
