Job summary

Justrite Safety Group is seeking a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician to ensure optimal performance of automated systems and machinery. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLCs, sensors, motors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems in a highly automated production environment.

You will perform preventive maintenance on robotic arms, conveyors, and related equipment, diagnose issues from schematics, and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime while maintaining accurate

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree in mechatronics or related field preferred.
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (Siemens/Allen‑Bradley or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with robotic systems, automated conveyors, sensors, actuators, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices and using precision measuring/testing instruments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechatronic systems per diagrams and control schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical/mechanical systems including robotic arms and conveyors.
  • Repair or replace defective components in automation systems.
  • Conduct system tests to ensure equipment meets specifications.
  • Calibrate equipment and modify PLC programs to maintain efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime through real-time troubleshooting.
  • Manage parts inventory and expediting replacements as needed.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and system performance.
  • Stay updated on new technologies via training and networking.

The Contribution You’ll Bring To This Role

The Mechatronics Maintenance Technician will ensure the optimal performance of automated systems and machinery by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electronic components, including PLCs, sensors, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and conveyor systems. This role is critical in driving efficiency and minimizing downtime in a highly automated production environment.

What You’ll Do At Justrite
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechatronic systems, including electrical circuits, PLCs, motors, sensors, and mechanical components, by following engineering diagrams, manufacturer instructions, and control schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including robotic arms, automated conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Repair or replace defective components in automation systems using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and advanced diagnostics.
  • Conduct system tests using mechatronic testing instruments to ensure equipment functions optimally and meets required specifications.
  • Maintain system efficiency by implementing control adjustments, calibrating equipment, and making program modifications to PLCs and other automated controls.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime through real‑time troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Manage parts and supplies inventory by ensuring proper stock levels, placing orders, and expediting replacements as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, system performance, and repair histories for predictive maintenance and reporting.
  • Stay updated on new technologies by attending relevant training sessions, reading technical publications, and networking with industry professionals.
Your Skills And Expertise

To ensure your success from day one, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or similar systems).
  • Hands‑on experience with robotic systems, automated conveyors, sensors, actuators, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial control systems, including HMI and SCADA.
  • Familiarity with precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFIBUS, etc.).
  • Experience with hand and power tools, machine shop equipment, and fabrication techniques (welding, soldering, brazing).
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations (NFPA 70E certification a plus).
  • Basic HVAC and plumbing skills are an asset.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation.
