Job summary

IFA- North America LLC is seeking a maintenance technician to oversee repair and preventive maintenance of complex production machinery, including PLC and CNC controlled systems. You will read blueprints, interpret schematics, and work with equipment from Siemens and other vendors.

Candidates should have a licensed journeyman repair background or AS Mechatronics, PLC experience, and basic math and geometry skills. German language ability is a plus; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Licensed journeyman machine repairman or AS Mechatronics or equivalent.
• Experience diagnosing PLC/CNC systems (Siemens).
• Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics and fluid power diagrams.
• Basic math skills and spatial geometry knowledge.
• Familiarity with safety procedures including LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems/components.
• Diagnose and correct problems with PLC & CNC (Siemens) controlled machinery.
• Maintain and repair production processes including welding, balancing and assembly machines.
• Coordinate with machine builders and colleagues from Germany.
• Interpret and understand machine drawings and schematics.
• Assist in development of PM plans.
• Assist in management of spare parts inventories.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks and follow safety procedures including LOTO.
• Use various measurement equipment in connection with job duties.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.

• Diagnose and correct problems with PLC & CNC (Siemens) controlled machinery
• Maintain and repair a variety of production processes that include welding, balancing and assembly machines.
• Work in coordination with representatives from various machine builders and colleagues from Germany
• Interpret and understand machine drawings and schematics
• Assist in development of PM plans
• Assist in management of spare parts inventories
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as requiredFollow strict safety procedures including LOTO
• Use various measurement equipment in connection with job duties

Education

• Certified as a licensed or journeyman machine repairman, AS Mechatronics, or equivalent experience

Experience

• PLC Experience
• Ability to read blueprints, fluid power and electrical schematics
• Familiar with local machinery codes and standards
• Basic math skills including addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division
• Basic knowledge of spatial geometry and trigonometry

Specific Skills

• Good communication skills (oral & written)
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Preferred Skills

• Siemens S7, TIA Portal PLC programming languages
• Siemens S7 Graph
• Cognex vision systems, Keyence sensors and lasers, Fanuc robotics and Promess measuring technology.
• Ability to read and speak German

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility
• Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area
• Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on a frequent basis
• Must be able to lift over 30lbs on an infrequent basis
• Must be able to sit at a work station
• Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal
• Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
• Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically/international as required
