Zipline is hiring a Mechatronics Engineer, Production Equipment, at its South San Francisco site. You will own the design, build, commissioning and continuous improvement of production tooling for aircraft and electro‑mechanical subsystems.

This hands‑on role focuses on safe, reliable automation on the factory floor, with on‑site work and up to 15% travel to vendor sites. Expect collaboration across Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet throughput and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated mastery of GD&T, tolerance analysis, mechanism design, material selection, and failure‑mode thinking for assembly tooling.

Responsabilités

• Integrate mechanical motion, pneumatics, sensors, actuators, interfaces, and safety systems into production tooling.
• Debug interactions between mechanisms, sensing, actuation, and controls; verify behavior during vendor acceptance and commissioning.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of production equipment projects for aircraft and electro‑mechanical subsystems from requirements to production release.
• Drive improvements in tooling availability, cycle time, and first‑pass yield on targeted assemblies.
