About Beagle Tech
Beagle Technology is an agricultural robotics company developing AI-powered harvesting solutions for the fresh produce industry. Our autonomous harvesting systems combine computer vision, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical controls, and software to help growers improve productivity, harvest consistency, and address labor shortages.
We are looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer who can take ownership of engineering projects from development and integration through testing and field deployment.
About the Role
The Mechatronics Engineer will work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems to support the development, integration, testing, and continuous improvement of Beagle Tech's agricultural machinery.
This role requires more than technical execution. We are looking for someone who can own projects, establish priorities, coordinate resources, track progress, and work with engineers and technicians to bring projects to completion .
The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between the workshop and the field and enjoys solving practical engineering problems in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and improve electromechanical systems for agricultural machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, sensor, actuator, controls, and system-integration issues.
- Support machine assembly, commissioning, testing, and field deployment.
- Develop and execute test plans and document results, failures, corrective actions, and engineering changes.
- Own engineering projects and workstreams from initial requirements through implementation and validation.
- Develop project plans, define milestones, establish priorities, and track deliverables.
- Coordinate day-to-day technical activities among engineers, technicians, vendors, and field personnel.
- Identify project risks, technical blockers, and resource requirements and elevate them appropriately.
- Translate field observations and operator feedback into actionable engineering improvements.
- Support root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive solutions.
- Maintain clear engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, BOMs, test reports, and change records.
- Provide technical direction and support to technicians during machine assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and field operations.
- Participate in field testing and customer deployments as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation , or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional engineering experience .
- Strong hands‑on experience with electromechanical systems, machinery, robotics, automation, or similar equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting systems involving motors, sensors, actuators, wiring, mechanical components, and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage engineering projects or technical workstreams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, and multiple concurrent tasks.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to work directly with hardware.
- Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate across engineering and operations teams.
- Comfortable working in both workshop and agricultural field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with agricultural equipment, robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, or heavy machinery.
- Experience with CAN bus, PLCs, embedded systems, motor controls, or industrial communication systems.
- Familiarity with CAD and mechanical design.
- Experience leading technicians or coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience taking hardware products from prototype through field testing and deployment.
- Familiarity with structured project-management practices, engineering change processes, and issue tracking.
- Experience working in a startup or other fast-paced hardware-development environment.
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines engineering depth with ownership . You should be comfortable getting your hands dirty troubleshooting a machine in the field, but equally comfortable organizing a project, coordinating a team, and making sure open issues actually get closed.
