Job summary

Freudenberg-NOK General Partnership is seeking an experienced Automation/Process Engineer to lead APQP efforts, develop prototype and production equipment, and ensure flawless launches. You will program PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems, troubleshoot equipment, and support PPAP/customer validation with operations and global teams.

The role requires a BS in engineering (Mechatronics preferred) with 5+ years of hands-on experience, CAD proficiency, and strong knowledge of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering (Mechatronics preferred)
• 5+ years hands-on experience building, assembling and commissioning custom equipment
• Proficient in PLCs, HMI, and SCADA systems
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (bearings, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics)
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings (GD&T preferred) and electrical schematics
• Hands on experience integrating robots (FANUC, Kawasaki, ABB)
• Hands on experience developing and implementing vision systems (Keyence, FIPS, Zero D)
• Ability to wire machines and panels, and debug electrical systems
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus
• Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, NX)
• Strong builder mentality
• Strong computer skills (Windows, Teams, Excel, Word)
• Project and process ownership

Responsibilities

• Lead APQP processes to develop prototype and production equipment for flawless launches
• Develop and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including controls, automation, and vision systems
• Program machine automation (PLCs, HMIs, robots) and automated vision control systems
• Provide assistance to operations and quality team, including 8D report support
• Support PPAP/customer validation activities
• Collaborate with global Freudenberg-NOK experts and related departments
• Create and maintain engineering/process/machine documentation (PFMEAs, schematics)
• Travel within NAFTA for operations and training
