Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Mechatronics & Robotics Apprentice (MRA) in Waco, TX. This permanent, full-time role offers on-the-job learning with mentorship from senior technicians to grow skills in robotics and MHE maintenance.

You will install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, following safety policies while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Shift work with potential relocation after program completion is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science or 4+ years of military experience.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 1+ years of PC software experience (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing operational items.
  • Knowledge of mathematics; experience reading measurements.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance of conveyance equipment using applicable plans, procedures, and manuals.
  • Conduct maintenance and basic troubleshooting of robotics and robotic work cells.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues related to MHE components.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motors, sensors, relays, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, and related components.
  • Ability to move up to 49 lbs, stand/walk for shifts up to 12 hours, climb ladders/gangways, and perform bending, lifting, and reaching as required.

Overview

Maintenance at Amazon supports fast, accurate, and reliable service in fulfillment and distribution. The Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) team partners to maintain robotics and material handling equipment (MHE), drive continuous improvement, and ensure equipment availability to meet customer needs.

Role Summary

Mechatronics & Robotics Apprentice (MRA) program combines electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills in real-world settings. During on-the-job learning (OJL) you will work with high-performance manufacturing systems to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, ensuring safety regulations and policies are followed. You will assist in installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment, and support continuous improvement to maintain high equipment availability.

You will be paired with journey workers across facilities with high automation and robotics. You will work from technical documents and instructions, complying with safety provisions. Effective communication, teamwork, self-motivation, and collaboration with upstream and downstream operations are essential. You will be mentored by senior technicians to grow in the role.

Program Requirements
  • Flexible to relocate after program completion
  • Attend a 9-week training at designated training providers (location assigned post-interview)
  • Meet the minimum score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test

Compensation & Benefits
