Job summary

Sabre Industries, Inc. — a provider of utility and telecom solutions — seeks a Mechanical Trainer Technician to deliver initial, recurring and remedial training for mechanical personnel. You will create work instructions under the Quality Program and train teams across shifts.

You will coordinate with plant managers, assist with new-hire training and lead electrical training program development to uphold Sabre standards. Strong organizational skills required.

Qualifications

• Training in vocational schools, or related on-the-job experience.
• Associate's degree a plus, but not required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work efficiently under limited supervision.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.
• Must have demonstrated ability to accurately read blue prints, tape measure and comprehend documents such as safety roles, operating and procedure manuals.
• Ability to train.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Plant Managers and Supervisors regarding mechanical personnel issues.
• Assist with training of new employees and certification upgrading.
• Identify mechanical-related issues (personnel, consumables, or equipment).
• Ensure personnel operate within the SBS mechanical parameters.
• Demonstrate high-level training capabilities to motivate safety, quality and productivity.
• Maintain awareness of safety issues and ensure adherence to safe practices.
• Follow blueprints to locate wiring and equipment and ensure conformance to codes.
• Complete special projects in all production aspects when needed.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components for hazards and repairs.
• Create and oversee electrical training programs (initial, function-specific, recurring).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Scope Of Responsibility

The Mechanical Trainer Technician provides initial, re-occurring and remedial job specific training. Creates work instruction and training preparations under the guidance of the Quality Program.

Essential Duties

• Communicate with the Plant Managers, and Supervisors regarding mechanical personnel who are having difficulties performing to Sabre Industry standards.
• Assist with the training of new employees and employees needing refinement or up-grading of certifications.
• Assist and identify mechanical related issues (personnel, consumable or equipment related).
• Ensure that all mechanical personnel are operating within the SBS mechanical parameters for the procedures that are being used.
• High level of training capabilities, which ensures leadership and motivation of employees to attain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
• Knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department and must assure that all employees adhere to safe practices at all times.
• Must be able to follow blueprints to determine location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Able to complete special projects in all production aspects when needed in a timely manner.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Create, implement, track and oversee electrical training program not limited to: initial new hire training, function specific training, reoccurring training.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
• Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
