Links Technology Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Designer III (Mechanical Tooling) in Hagerstown, MD to lead CAD-based tooling design from concept to production.

The role focuses on creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models, ensuring manufacturability, safety, and efficient production support across engineering and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years in mechanical design and GD&T, and strong experience with CAE/CAD platforms such as

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Typically 6+ years of relevant mechanical design and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong mastery of GD&T standards.
• Proficiency with CAE/CAD platforms including 3DEXPERIENCE, 3D modeling and 2D drafting tools.
• Comfortable collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (sitting, standing, repetitive motions, stair climbing).

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD-based design concepts and refine tooling layouts, creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models optimized for manufacturability and safety.
• Partner with product engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure tooling designs support production and field-use requirements.
• Identify layout errors, interferences, and process risks, recommending improvements and corrective actions.
• Support design verification, functional tryout, and final acceptance testing from concept through production integration.
• Assist in establishing acceptance criteria for fabrication, providing guidance to fabrication shops.
• Deliver hands‑on design support to integrate new manufacturing processes and improve worker ergonomics.
