Qualifications

What You Will Do

Join Raytheon's dynamic Test Solutions Engineering team, part of the Hardware Discipline Center, where we architect and deliver high-reliability test equipment vital to national defense. In this role, you will design, analyze, prototype, and implement advanced mechanical test fixtures and environmental test stations supporting complex weapon systems across their entire lifecycle—from early engineering development and high-rate factory production to field operations and long-term sustainment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, plan, and design custom mechanical test solutions for vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency (RF), and electro-optical operational environments.
  • Conceptualize and implement mechanical systems that integrate seamlessly with state-of-the-art test technologies.
  • Utilize parametric CAD solid modeling tools to create comprehensive 3D assemblies and detailed 2D engineering drawing packages.
  • Ensure all technical data packages adhere strictly to industry drafting standards, including ASME Y14 series or ISO geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Integrate and validate test systems against stringent accuracy, repeatability, and reliability requirements.
  • Evaluate production installations and collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to diagnose malfunctions and implement design enhancements.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent) to generate 3D models and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience creating or maintaining mechanical hardware documentation and engineering drawings adhering to industry drafting standards (such as ASME Y14 series or ISO).
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechatronics.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) or Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • Previous hands‑on testing, prototyping, or production support experience in an aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and root‑cause problem‑solving skills applied to mechanical fixtures or test equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a multi‑disciplinary, fast‑paced team setting.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
