Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Mechanical Associate to inspect, diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles across engines, brakes, steering, and suspension. You’ll work in a modern, climate-controlled facility with ongoing training and advanced tools to grow your skills.

We offer up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus for external hires and an hourly rate of $23.28–$41.94. CarMax emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and customer trust in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in engine repair, steering/suspension, brakes, and HVAC systems.
• Strong health and safety knowledge and compliance.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license; ASE certifications preferred where required by state.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles to CarMax standards.
• Collaborate with a team to solve technical challenges quickly.
• Gain hands-on experience across domestic and foreign vehicles.
