Job description

About Odys

Our mission at Odys is simple - we build safe, sustainable aircraft to cut travel time in half on the world's busiest corridors. Our flagship aircraft Alta enables travelers to skip the big-airport hassle by using city helipads and local airports to connect cities less than 1,000 miles apart (approx 40% of flights). And on average cut CO2 by 76% on tens of billions of flight miles globally.

To get there, we start with our UAV called Laila for commercial logistics, medical transport, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and defense missions. We’re deploying aircraft with launch partners (Fiji Airways, Honeywell, Aramex, US Navy) beginning in 2026 and already have firm orders for aircraft under contract.

We’re a team of expert engineers from deep tech and aerospace that focus on fast iterations loops (completed transition flight faster than our peers) combined with mastery of the aircraft certification process. Previously, our team developed custom drones, brought multiple automotive platforms into production, and electrified transportation vehicles that magnetically levitate, that roll, that fly. Together, we’ve been learning, developing, building, testing, and preparing for this challenge our entire lives.

About The Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to support the assembly, integration, and testing of Hybrid Electric Powerplant systems across aircraft and testing platforms. You’ll work closely with engineers and other technicians to integrate and install

This role is highly hands-on and dynamic. You’ll assist with prototype builds, propulsion test stands, component bring-up, acceptance testing, and system installations across multiple projects. You’ll be critical to getting our aircraft built, integrated, and ready for flight.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Setup and operate a wide variety of tools such as torque wrenches, saws, drills and soldering irons
  • Assembly and fabrication of test rigs and flight articles
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, instructions and test procedures
  • Fabrication, assembly and handling of tight tolerance aerospace components
  • Operate various ground support equipment such as forklifts and gantry cranes
  • Supporting first time builds of complex electromechanical systems (motors, power electronics, rotating machinery, batteries, cooling systems, etc.)
  • Assembly of prototype aircraft mechanical and electrical components
  • Supporting execution of in-house and external testing campaigns
  • Support part inspection for appearance, function, tolerances, dimensions and tolerances
  • Maintain the shop area and organize tool boxes and powered equipment
  • Travel to machine/fabrication shops to obtain parts and purchase equipment
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with teams of diverse backgrounds and skills
Your Background Should Be:
  • High school diploma or equivalent degrees
  • eVTOL/UAV Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with electric propulsion, lithium-ion battery integration, or hybrid-electric architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience working on complex electromechanical systems (motors, power electronics, rotating machinery, batteries, cooling systems, etc.)
  • Proficiency in soldering, crimping (Mil-Spec), and harness building.
  • Familiarity with standard test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, milliohm meters).
  • Documentation: Ability to read and red-line complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
