Job summary

Enbridge is seeking a Mechanical Technician II to maintain critical pipeline systems, focusing on safety, reliability, and throughput. You will perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, motors, and measurement systems and respond to emergencies as a first responder.

This role requires 2+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance, the ability to work independently, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll operate primarily in field environments with some office work and training duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on pipeline mechanical and terminal equipment including pumps, valves, motors, seals, mixers, loading arms and measurement systems to minimize downtime and throughput losses.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and respond to emergencies as a first responder, executing lock-outs and open-system job plans safely and effectively.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with DOT regulations, company O&M procedures, and safety standards.
• Complete installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic systems and components, ensuring optimal system performance.
• Use EMAIT to document work, maintain station records, and support accurate drawings and as-built updates.
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, Technical Supervisors, Control Center operators, and project teams.
• Support training, mentorship, station upkeep, and outreach efforts.

You balance proactive maintenance with fast, confident response to emerging issues, often independently, always safely while collaborating with skilled technicians and operations partners across the region. What you will do:

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on pipeline mechanical and terminal equipment including pumps, valves, motors, seals, mixers, loading arms and measurement systems to minimize downtime and throughput losses.

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and respond to emergencies as a first responder, executing lock-outs and open-system job plans safely and effectively.

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with DOT regulations, company O&M procedures, and strict safety standards at every job, every time.

• Complete installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic systems and components, ensuring optimal system performance, minimizing downtime, and adhering to safety and quality standards

• Use the maintenance management system (EMAIT) to document work, maintain station records, and support accurate drawings and as‑built updates.

• Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, Technical Supervisors, Control Center operators, and project teams to plan and execute maintenance and construction activities.

• Support training, mentorship, station upkeep, and outreach efforts, including coaching peers, assisting with commissioning, and engaging local first responders.

What you have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.

• Excellent trouble shooting ability.

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Effective computer skills.

• Valid driver’s license & good driving record.

• Must live 40 miles within reporting station.

• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include (but is not limited to) a five-year driving record review, criminal background check, company-sponsored medical assessment, and drug testing.

Preferred:

• Completion of an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or 2 year mechanical technical/vocational degree.

• Experience in maintenance of crude oil pipeline, tank farm or delivery facilities or certified technical designation.

• Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, programmable logic controls, motor control centers and instrumentation).

• 5 years of industry experience as a Mechanical Technician.

Working Conditions:

• Available for emergency call via mobile phone, or home phone 24 hours a day.

• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule within the work group.

• 75% field mechanical maintenance work and 25% field office work.

• Must be able to physically perform heavy manual work including climbing storage tanks and lifting up to 50lbs.

• Work often required in high noise level areas and areas where vapor from crude oil and solvents may be present.

• Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record

• Overnight travel of 10-40 days per year may be required.

• Primarily field oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings and documentation of required tasks, dictated by Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply.
