Job summary

Enbridge is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician I to maintain the reliability of its pipeline systems in the United States. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe operation in a dynamic energy delivery environment.

This non-union, full-time position requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least 1 year in industrial mechanical maintenance, with willingness to travel and relocate within 25 miles of the reporting location.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and timely repairs on pipeline system equipment to minimize downtime and throughput loss.
  • Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical systems including pumps, valves, mixers, seals, motors, fans, and measurement equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, company O&M procedures, and DOT regulations.
  • Develop and execute lock-out/tag-out procedures and open-system job plans to ensure safe maintenance practices.
  • Respond as a first responder during emergency situations and participate in required safety and technical training programs, including OQ certifications.
  • Use maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo) to document work, track equipment history, and support planning activities.
  • Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, and operations teams to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance and improvement work efficiently.

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical TechnicianI to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our pipeline systems. In this role, you will work with a variety of mechanical equipment, respond to operational needs, and contribute to a safety-first culture all while supporting essential energy delivery. What You Will Do:

Preferred:
  • Completion of an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or 2 year mechanical technical/vocational degree.
  • Experience in maintenance of crude oil pipeline, tank farm or delivery facilities or certified technical designation.
  • Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, programmable logic controls, motor control centers and instrumentation).
Working Conditions:
  • Available for emergency call via mobile phone, or home phone 24 hours a day.
  • Periodically designated as on-call technician for a week at a time.
  • 75% field mechanical maintenance work and 25% field office work.
  • Occasional work in extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Must be able to physically perform heavy manual work including climbing storage tanks and lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Work often required in high noise level areas and areas where vapor from crude oil and solvents may be present.
  • Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Overnight travel of 10-40 days per year may be required.
  • Primarily field oriented (outdoor) with specific office (indoor) functions for training, meetings and documentation of required tasks, dictated by Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies for which Enbridge must comply.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $29.25 to $41.00 USD per hour for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
