Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Mechanical Technician to build up mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for modular nuclear reactor systems. You will work with hand and power tools to fit and fasten components, following drawings and work instructions.

This hands-on role suits someone who thrives on solving how things fit together in a fast-moving startup. Expect to operate across diverse build types, maintain safety standards, and document work with attention to quality.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and assembly procedures.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
  • Experience in startup manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components using hand and power tools.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials.
  • Fit, fasten, align, and torque components to specification; verify fit-up and functionality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, fitment problems, or missing/incorrect parts, and elevate as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; follow 5S and shop safety standards.
  • Support a wide range of build types across different product lines as priorities shift.
  • Document completed work, inspection results, and any non-conformances per quality procedures.
