Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Technician – Level 1 for the Dulles, VA site. This 100% onsite role focuses on assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion subsystems within a highly skilled team. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S.

Government Secret clearance and work in a cleanroom environment. Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, performing layouts, using precision tools, and documenting workmanship per strict standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with various tooling and equipment.
  • PC literacy using common software and annotated MB designs.
  • Ability to execute and document work using detailed instructions and reading/interpreting drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Performs production assembly operations on mechanical subassemblies and systems.
  • Adheres to tool use and facility housekeeping requirements.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, schematics, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Reads diagrams and layouts, uses hand and/or power tools and jigs.
  • Uses a wide range of precision hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and mechanical test equipment.
  • Self-inspects work to meet workmanship standards.
  • Works in a precision clean room with gowning protocol and FOD control compliance.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Technician – Level 1 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Mechanical Technician - Level 1 is responsible for the assembly, integration, and test of a variety of Propulsion Subsystems supported by the Dulles Propulsion Work Center of Excellence. You will be working as part of a team on highly complex systems and equipment that are mission critical for the platforms that they operate on

In this job, you will:
  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operationsinvolvingmechanical assembliesat asubassemblyandsystem level.
  • Responsible for adhering to strict requirements governing tool useand facilityhouse keeping
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, andprocessdocumentation.
  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools and jigs.
  • Use a wide range of precision hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and mechanical test equipment.
  • Responsible for adhering tostrictrequirementsgoverning tool use, house & record keeping
  • Ability and willingness to self-inspect work in support of adherence to defined workmanship standards.
  • Work in a precision clean work environment(cleanroom) requiringspecific gowning protocolcombined with FOD control compliance.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Hands on experience with various tooling and equipment.
  • PC literacy usingcommon softwareandannotatedmodel-baseddesigns
  • Abilityto executeand documentworkusing detailedinstructions and reading/interpreting drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years ofaerospace integrationexperienceor trade schoolexperience aligned with welding(i.e., fabricatingand assembly offlight pneumatic systems, associated mechanical assemblies andrelated thermal installations).
  • Experience usinghigh fidelitydrawings and work instructions,model-baseddesign use preferred.
  • Experience withAerospace tubeand pipe fitting operations, and the associated tooling.
  • Experienceperforming precision tube forming tubeand tube end processing.
  • Aerospace fusion weldingexperienceis preferred, specificallytailored to gas tungsten orbital tube welding operations.
  • Having ability to useand applycommoncomputerdesign softwarein support ofcreatingadditive manufacturedtooling and fixturing is an added preference.

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
