Socket.dev in Iowa is seeking an experienced maintenance/engineering professional to drive continuous improvement and ensure reliable production. You will troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems, lead maintenance activities, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Applicants should have 5+ years in industrial mechanical controls, a technical degree or apprenticeship, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and familiarity with Lean/quality practices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of experience with manufacturing processes and principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems and controls used in industrial settings.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
  • ITAR requires U.S. person status (citizen, green card holder, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Improve equipment and manufacturing methods through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting to restore product flow; work with craft employees.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Involvement with continuous improvement initiatives for equipment and manufacturing methods.
Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting skills to restore product flow. Work hand in hand with craft employees.
Act as a resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel.
Interface with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve technical issues.
Adhere to Arconic EH&S, quality, continuous improvement and other company policies.
Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as required.
Integrated role as direct support of the Maintenance Organization.
Also note:

This position will require the candidate to be flexible with hours, as hours for this role will be dependent on business needs. (Generally, M-F 7am-4pm but will require off shift support as needed)

Qualifications

You have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with manufacturing processes and principles.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical systems and controls utilized in industrial applications.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Exceptional Candidates also have:

  • Experience working on rolling mill equipment (Mills, rolls, mill drive components, shears, table rolls, coilers, etc.), Aluminum, steel or Paper rolling preferred.
  • Strong maintenance background.
  • Technical degree or completion of an apprenticeship.
  • Experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of world class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, FMEA, RCM SPC, TQM, etc.
  • Experience designing, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience designing, fabricating and installing mechanical equipment.
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
