Actalent in Menlo Park is seeking a Mechanical Technician to build and assemble generator components in a hands-on manufacturing setting. You will follow established procedures, inspect units, and document findings for engineering teams while working with precision tools during a 5:00 PM–1:30 AM shift.

The role collaborates with engineering and production teams to improve safety, quality, and efficiency, using micrometers and gauges to verify tolerances.

Mechanical Technician

Job Title: Mechanical Technician Job Description The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for building and assembling generator components and subsystems, strictly following established procedures. This role involves inspecting test units, documenting findings for engineering teams, and supporting continuous improvements focused on safety, quality, and efficiency. Candidates will work closely with engineering and production teams in a hands‑on manufacturing environment, utilizing precision measuring equipment. The work shift is from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble generator components and subsystems.
• Adhere to established procedures and safety protocols.
• Inspect test units and document findings for engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical assembly experience.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and gauge blocks.
• Troubleshooting skills, with a minimum of 5 years in the industry, ideally 10+ years.
• Ability to read and follow assembly procedures for complex assemblies.
• Inspection, testing, and documentation skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assemblies.
• Experience working from engineering drawings, schematics, or assembly instructions.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances (.001").
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, energy, aerospace, or industrial environments.
• Ability to frequently lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Experience contributing to process or safety improvements.
• Metal fabrication skills.

This role is situated in a hands‑on manufacturing environment that operates from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
