Compensation: $40,000 – $62,000 + Full Benefits
Travel: Minimal (occasional project/site support)

Overview

A rapidly growing industrial automation and equipment manufacturer is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Technician to support the build, maintenance, and deployment of custom mechanical systems. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, build quality, and successful system integration across both shop and field environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys working on complex equipment, collaborating with engineering teams, and contributing to cutting‑edge automation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Assembly & Build

  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to assemble equipment and subassemblies
  • Build complex mechanical systems to precise engineering specifications
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches)
  • Ensure proper alignment, tolerances, and torque requirements are met

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment
  • Replace worn components, lubricate moving parts, and adjust system settings
  • Track maintenance activities and identify recurring mechanical issues

Installation & Equipment Setup

  • Support installation and setup of equipment in both shop and field environments
  • Perform precision alignments using tools such as dial indicators and laser systems
  • Test system functionality and performance during setup and commissioning
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions quickly
  • Repair or replace components including bearings, gears, belts, valves, and seals
  • Validate repairs through testing and collaborate with engineering on root cause analysis
  • Partner with engineers on prototype builds and new equipment development
  • Provide feedback on assembly processes, part fit, and design improvements
  • Assist in testing and documenting performance of new systems

Commissioning & Field Support

  • Assist with equipment startup, system testing, and final handoff
  • Support cross‑functional teams (electrical, controls, software) during commissioning
  • Provide basic operational guidance to end users when needed

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of builds, repairs, and maintenance activities
  • Document part usage, torque values, and inspection results
  • Ensure documentation supports quality standards and traceability

Safety & Shop Standards

  • Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred

Experience

  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, or industrial equipment
  • Background in manufacturing, automation, or custom machinery environments is a plus

Technical Skills

  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with experience using common tools and measurement equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems and identifying root causes
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems
  • Ability to document work clearly and accurately

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to automation systems, robotics, or CNC equipment
  • Experience supporting prototype or custom equipment builds

Certifications (Preferred)

  • OSHA 10 or 30
  • Forklift or lift operation certification
  • Hands‑on role based in a shop and industrial setting
  • Regular use of tools, machinery, and lifting equipment
  • Occasional travel for installation or field support
