Job summary

A private equity-backed midstream operator based in Dallas, TX is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Hobbs, NM. You will perform hands-on maintenance on natural gas gathering and processing compression equipment, focusing on 3500 and 3600 series machines, alongside a small team.

The role requires 3–5+ years of mechanical experience in oil and gas, maintenance on engines and compressors, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience in oil and gas.
• Hands-on experience with 3500 and 3600 series equipment.
• Midstream experience preferred.
• Independent, dependable and mechanically inclined.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair natural gas engines and compressors
• Perform preventive maintenance and major overhauls on engines and compressors
• Change compressor suction/discharge valves, gaskets, filters, lubricants, gauges and control valves
• Support startups and shutdowns; keep compressors running at high availability
• Record mic readings and work orders in the maintenance system (Brightly)

POSITION: Mechanical Technician

Location: Hobbs, NM (live within about 1 hour of Hobbs for callouts)

Schedule: Salaried, one home site (not a rotation); callout response required.

About The Role

Mechanical maintenance on natural gas gathering and processing compression equipment, with hands-on work on 3500 and 3600 series compression. You'll join a team of three technicians under a hands-on, easygoing manager who knows the equipment.

What You'll Do
