Job summary

South Bow seeks a Mechanical Technician to maintain and troubleshoot critical facility equipment, including pumps, valves, and HVAC systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, participate in hazard assessments, and support safe isolation and turnarounds.

A 2-year technical certificate and 2–3 years of industrial maintenance are preferred, with travel to sites as needed. The role requires keeping detailed records in SAP/Maximo and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of pump & motor seals, bearings, alignments; valve checks; HVAC controls troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in compliance with South Bow policies, safe work practices, permit-to-work requirements, and applicable codes/standards.
• Participate in hazard assessments (e.g., FLHA/JSA), toolbox talks, and incident/near-miss reporting.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks on PSVs, valves, pump seals, HVAC, and related equipment, such as: Pump & motor seals, bearings, and alignments
• Valves hydraulic, manual, gearboxes checks, and actuators
• HVAC control troubleshooting, Relays, pressure sensors, and washing
• Create, update, and close work orders in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP/Maximo) with accurate notes
• Support documentation updates, such as redlines/as-builts, device records, and calibration/maintenance logs
• Follow material management practices (parts kitting, inventory requests, return-to-stock)
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to support safe equipment isolation and turnaround activities

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of facilities by completing routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair activities on Pumps, valves, HVAC, PSVs, and basic pipe fitting with minimal guidance.

What You Will Do

Perform all work in compliance with South Bow policies, safe work practices, permit-to-work requirements, and applicable codes/standards.

Participate in hazard assessments (e.g., FLHA/JSA), toolbox talks, and incident/near-miss reporting.

Complete preventive maintenance tasks on PSVs, valves, pump seals, HVAC, and related equipment, such as:

• Pump & Motor seals, bearings, and alignments
• Valves hydraulic, manual, gearboxes checks, and actuators
• Flooding and purging equipment and piping with line commodity
• HVAC control troubleshooting, Relays, pressure senor, and washing

Support One Calls (811) and locates.

Be responsible to do oil sample analysis (Grind Outs).

Conduct field rounds and inspections; document results and elevate abnormal conditions.

Support troubleshooting of basic equipment faults using test equipment and established procedures.

Create, update, and close work orders in the maintenance management system (e.g., SAP/Maximo) with accurate notes, time entries, and parts usage.

Support documentation updates, such as redlines/as-builts, device records, and calibration/maintenance logs.

Follow material management practices (parts kitting, inventory requests, return-to-stock).

Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors to support safe equipment isolation, job execution, and return-to-service.

Support turnaround/shutdown activities and contractor oversight as assigned (e.g., receiving, orientation, field verification).

Minimum Qualifications

2 year technical certificate in a related field of study (or equivalent combination of training/experience):

• Millwright
• Industrial technology
• HVAC Technician (Industrial HVAC with relevant instrumentation exposure)

2–3 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience (pipeline, midstream, oil & gas, utilities, or similar).

Working knowledge of:

• Pump & Motor seals, bearings, and alignments
• Valves hydraulic, manual, gearboxes checks, and actuators
• HVAC control troubleshooting, Relays, pressure senor, and washing

Industrial safety practices (LOTO, hazardous area awareness, permits).

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites as required.

Eligibility to work in the United States and pass required pre-employment checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to valve/gearbox maintenance (Cameron, Fisher, Rexa, and others)

Pumps (e.g., Sulzers, Pigone, shaft alignments).

Industrial HVAC maintenance

Previous CMMS experience (SAP/Maximo) and strong documentation habits.

Safety training such as H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Fall Protection, or equivalent (role/site dependent).

This Position Requires Candidates To

• Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada and the US)
• Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
• Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (up to 10% of work schedule)
• Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
